WHITE LION AT PUMBA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Pumba Private Game Reserve, home to one of only three free-ranging populations of White Lion in South Africa, is found in the heart of the Eastern Cape 15 km outside of Grahamstown, on the N2 from Port Elizabeth which is a mere hours drive away. Since the discovery of this recessive gene (not albinism) in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve which adjoins the Kruger National Park, the White Lion has formed the focus of many breeding programmes throughout the world, of which Pumba Private Game Reserve is one. This magnificent animal is often the highlight of guests visiting Pumba and to date the White Lion have produced two litters of cubs, of which the second litter still awaits to be seen.

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, in conjunction with the South African National Parks (SANParks) has launched four satellite reservation offices in Nelson Mandela Bay during September. The official launch of the offices was held on 26 September 2007, to commemorate National Tourism Month and as a curtain raiser to World Tourism Day celebrations, on 27 September.

The SANParks reservation offices are located within the Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Information Centres - at the Boardwalk, Donkin and Uitenhage, as well as the Call Centre at the NMBT office in South End.

The offices are a first for the Eastern Cape and offer a one-stop source of information & accommodation bookings port for all South African National Parks, as well as a purchasing point for the SANParks wildcard, which entitles the bearer to free access at all SANParks.

The one stop booking offices offer a more convenient service to the public, as well as offer a faster and more personal service by alleviating the hassle of having to go through the SANParks central reservation call centre in Pretoria or going to the actual parks before one can purchase a wildcard.
